All’s Well That Ends Well: Part 5 Finale

Charlie’s Corner is the domain of Charlie, the furry four-legged lady’s man of Market Common. Each month, he’ll share information to help all new, visiting, and existing doggie community members get the most out of life alongside their human companions. Here, we’ll feature his reflections on what it’s like to be a dashing downtown doggie, as he reminds all of us how to play well together.

This month, Charlie recounts the conclusion of his time in Snowglobe land from the cushy confines of Charlie’s Pad. And he’s glad to be back in Myrtle Beach at springtime.

Continued from last month. Click here to read it.

Well, I’m finally home! It’s been a long adventure for me over the winter months, but I’m happy to be once more in sunny and snowless Myrtle Beach even if I do miss the prolificness of the salmon ice cream I once consumed daily.

I’ll bet you’re curious how I left Snowglobe world and what happened once I regained my svelte and adorable doggie form— so I’ll tell you.

Once the Easter Bunny straightened out Juliano’s wayward magic, he and I asked directions back to Spring’s castle. I was feeling homesick and had lost track of how much time had passed, but I felt like it was time to be headed on my way and I was certain Spring could help.

Juliano shared his whole life story with me on the return journey— I do have a sympathetic ear and people typically love opening up to me. When we arrived at the castle, Spring was waiting for us. It was like she could sense that it was time for me to leave.

“Charlie I’m so glad to see you,” she cried. “You must return to Myrtle Beach. Snowglobe world needs you. You mustn’t forget what I instructed you about shaking the snowglobe. Without it we will all wither and die. We need you to go back and give us a good shake so we can all recharge our batteries. We’re feeling sleepy. Besides, all your fans and followers are missing you there.”

There’s nothing I like better than feeling important and wanted. So she didn’t have to tell me twice. There was the prickly problem of Juliano though. A mishap creating more mishaps, it was hard to know where he should go. Spring listened to the story of his crashing into Snowglobe world via a wayward rainbow, and turning me into an elephant dog with a remarkably placid face that did her dignity credit.

At the conclusion, she suggested that Juliano attend a different type of magic class, so he could receive instruction in a way that complimented rather than clashed with his learning style. He brightened up at this, never having considered before that he wasn’t a failure, but simply had a different approach to learning. Spring helped send him off on a rainbow into his future, and we waved enthusiastically at him as he slid back to his home.

Then it was my turn.

“Close your eyes,” she instructed me.

I did and felt a little tingly sensation on my nose, much like when I over-indulged in the wasabi ice cream I liked to have with sushi.

Spring’s voice echoed fond farewells in my ear as I felt so incredibly sleepy and suddenly, whoa! Sunlight and warmth are pouring through the window. It’s morning and I stretch and yawn. I’m at home in my snug little dog bed. And everything feels so familiar and so normal it’s almost as if I’ve never left.

Was it all just a dream? I can’t tell— but one thing is for sure. I will shake that snowglobe of mine diligently once a week. Because there may just be a magical little world of people in there relying on me.

Until next time,

The Coastal Insider

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
